Terms of service
The agreement between you and us when you use jellysuite. We've kept it short and in plain words.
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Who we are
jellysuite is run by Benjamin Mann, c/o Friedhofstraße 2, 32602 Vlotho, Germany ("we", "us"). "The service" means jellysuite.com, the jellysuite apps on the web and on your devices, and the servers behind them. By using the service you agree to these terms.
Your account
- Your password and your recovery key are the only ways to unlock your data. We never have either, so we can't reset them or recover your data if you lose both. Keeping them safe is up to you.
- You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- Accounts are for people. Don't create them with scripts or bots.
- In a team, the team's admins decide who has an account, which groups people are in and which domains the team uses. They can't read or recover anyone's account.
What you may not do
We can't see what you store or send, and we don't want to. That makes it your responsibility to use the service lawfully. In particular, don't use it to:
- break the law or infringe other people's rights;
- send spam, bulk mail to people who didn't ask for it, or malware;
- attack, overload or probe the service, or get around its limits;
- resell the service without our agreement.
If an account is used this way, we may suspend or close it. Unless the matter is urgent, we'll tell you first and give you the chance to put it right.
Your content
What you keep in jellysuite is yours. We claim no rights to it, and since it's encrypted with keys we never receive, we couldn't use it if we wanted to. How we treat the data our servers do see is in the privacy policy.
Plans and payment
- jellysuite is a paid subscription, with no free plan and no trial. You pay first and create your account right after. The plans and their prices are on the pricing page; all prices include VAT.
- You choose to pay monthly or yearly, in advance. A subscription renews for the same period until you cancel it.
- Payment runs through Stripe, which also sends your invoices. We never see your card number. Businesses can enter a VAT ID at checkout; where the reverse charge applies, the invoice says so.
- Business is priced per person. Every active or suspended member of your team is one seat. When someone joins, their seat is added and charged for the rest of the current period straight away; when someone leaves, the unused part of their seat is credited to your next invoice.
- If we change a price, the new price applies from your next renewal at the earliest. We'll tell you beforehand, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Your right to withdraw
If you subscribe as a consumer, you can withdraw from the contract within 14 days of subscribing, without giving a reason. To do so, tell us in a clear statement before the 14 days are over, for example by email to hello@jellysuite.com.
If you withdraw, we refund what you paid, through the payment method you used, within 14 days of hearing from you. At checkout you ask us to start the service straight away, so we keep the share of the price that matches the days you had it until you withdrew.
Cancelling
- You can cancel at any time under Settings › Billing in the app, or by writing to hello@jellysuite.com. Your subscription then runs to the end of the period you've paid for and doesn't renew.
- Apart from your right to withdraw and the rights the law gives you, we don't refund a period that has started.
- When a subscription ends, the account is locked: you can sign in and subscribe again, but not use the apps, and mail sent to you is turned away. After 30 days the account and everything in it is deleted for good. For a team, that is the team's workspace and the accounts the team created.
- Take your data with you before then. Once it's deleted, nobody can bring it back, including us.
If a payment fails
Stripe tells you by email and tries again several times over about two weeks. Nothing is locked during that time. If payment still hasn't gone through, the subscription ends and the account is locked and later deleted as described under Cancelling. Subscribing again within the 30 days brings everything back.
Availability
We work to keep the service running and your data safe, but we don't promise that it is always available or free of errors, and these terms include no service level agreement.
If we close
If we ever close jellysuite, you'll get at least six months' notice and a way to take your data with you, as set out on the philosophy page.
Our software
The parts of jellysuite published as open source are covered by their own licences, listed on the open source page. Everything else in the service remains ours; you may use it, but not copy or redistribute it.
Liability
We are liable without limit for damage caused deliberately or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where the law requires it, such as under the German Product Liability Act.
For slight negligence we are liable only if we breach a duty that is essential to the contract, one you can ordinarily rely on us to fulfil, and then only for the damage that is typical and foreseeable for a contract of this kind. Beyond that, we are not liable for slight negligence.
In particular, we are not liable for data you can no longer open because you lost both your password and your recovery key.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example when a feature is added or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and if you have an account we'll let you know about changes that matter.
Governing law
German law applies. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. If you use jellysuite as a business, the courts at our place of business have jurisdiction.
